Ovulation is a part of your monthly menstrual cycle. It happens when a mature egg is released from the ovary.

The egg then moves down the fallopian tube where fertilization (meeting with the sperm) can happen. If sperm are present in the fallopian tube when the egg is released, there is a good chance that the egg will be fertilised and you may conceive.

If left unfertilized, the egg disintegrates and your period starts.

It typically happens about 13–15 days before the start of each period.

During each menstrual cycle, there are about 6 days when you can get pregnant. This is called your fertile window. You can predict your most fertile window by learning when you do ovulate.

Signs differ from women to women and some women may not have to bear with any signs at all. Common signs are –

  • Light bleeding or spotting
  • Increase in clear, wet and stretchy vaginal discharge
  • Your body temperature at rest (Basal Body Temperature) may increase.

Lot of women use ovulation kit to identify the time when you have chances to ovulate.

If you and your partner are seriously thinking of extending your family, ovulation calculator can help you regarding that.

This calculator gives approximate ovulation dates and fertile window for women who have regular periods (Regular periods mean having a period every 21 to 35 days). Accordingly you can try for pregnancy.
